Guest information for your cottage

Heating (during the cold months) and water are on timers twice a day. If you need extra heating or water please follow instructions above the heating panel. Threshers Barn instructions are in a wallet in the kitchen drawer. DO NOT change the thermostat setting on the boiler itself as this will cause it to cut out rendering you with no heating at all.

There is a No Smoking policy in your cottage. We regret candles are not allowed either. If you wish to smoke there is an ash container under the eaves of the Games room where you can sit on the bench and smoke. Threshers Barn and Harvest Cottage each have an ash container in their courtyards.

Fire blanket and extinguisher are situated in the kitchen and the smoke alarm is connected to the mains. A battery ensures they still work in the event of a power cut. Please keep exit doors clear and the key in the lock of your cottage in case a quick exit is required. (All electrical appliances and smoke alarms are tested annually.)
Carbon monoxide monitor is insitu and checked regularly.

Lights – spare bulbs for lights you can reach with ease are kept in one of the kitchen drawers. A torch is also provided.

First aid – a selection of plasters and antiseptic wipes are kept in a container in a kitchen drawer.

Appliance instructions are kept in a wallet in a kitchen drawer.

Breakages – if you do break anything, use items from the first aid kit, or find something is not working properly, please let us know so we can rectify it before our next visitors arrive.

An Information folder is provided in your cottage detailing all the above plus other useful information about the area, farm, boundaries and local walks. Please remember this is a working farm and do not let your children roam unsupervised or climb on farm machinery. Leave all gates as you find them when you pass through.

BBQ and tools must be cleaned after use, and certainly before you depart, ready for the next visitors. Please make sure they have cooled down and are clean before bringing them inside.

Pets/Fishing – you will have received separate information sheets if you are bringing pets or are fishing. Please make sure you are familiar with our policies before visiting. If you have not received them please inform us and we can re-send.

The Games room has a stock of books, jigsaws, board games, toys for young children, (careful opening and closing the toy box as the lid is very heavy), a large OS map of the local area, (you will also find maps in your cottage) and leaflets of places to visit. Internet Access is available in here. It may be available in your cottage depending on the signal. Please return anything taken to your cottage from here before you depart.

Departure – yes, I’m sorry you will have to go home! Please leave your cottage by 10am so our cleaner can ready the cottage for our next guests. Please ensure you have checked the drawers, behind the doors, and under the bed for your belongings, turned off the lights, returned the heating panel to its normal settings, closed all windows, locked back doors where applicable, locked the front door, and left your keys in the key safe and locked it. We would be grateful if you will leave the cottage in a reasonably clean condition as there will be limited time for cleaning before our next guests arrive. If you are part of a larger party please ensure you have returned all equipment to the correct cottage and replaced any furniture moved. If you have dogs please make sure you have cleaned up in the garden and vacuumed your cottage.

Rubbish – on your departure please take your rubbish to the COMMERCIAL GREEN bin in the compound at the top of the lane. Recycle items as per Dorset’s recycling policy may be left in the recycle box outside your cottage. Bottles should be taken to the top of the lane and left in the boxes provided in the compound. Please make sure the items placed in it are clean.

Lost property can be returned to you providing postage is paid for in advance. If items of importance or value are found we will notify you immediately, otherwise anything not claimed within 28 days will be disposed of or sent to charity.

Recommendations or Complaints – we hope you only have the former but we are not perfect, and there are bound to be complaints from time to time too. Please email your complaints so we can rectify things, and sing our praises on www.mycottageholiday.co.uk Google or Facebook and tell your friends and family. We hope to see you back again soon.
